What is an "Askable Adult"?

Our focus is to empower this community by creating approachable adults, able to communicate with the youth in their lives about the risks of adolescent sexual behaviors.   By providing them with correct information and clear, effective communication skills, it will enable these adults to encourage the adolescents in their lives to talk openly and honestly about sensitive issues.  This allows the youth to make responsible, healthy choices, and informed decisions.  An "Askable Adult" is not limited to only parents and/or guardians of an adolescent, but may also include any number of significant adults in that adolescents life that is empowered to be an appropriate role model for them.

Why should YOU become an "Askable Adult"?

You will not only be given the tools necessary to speak with the adolescents in your lives about sensitive, hard to discuss issues; but also learn how to project an approachability essential for positive, open adult - teen communication…

You will be equipped with accurate information, effective communication skills, and new, creative ways of connecting with your teen. By taking an active role in your youths’ life, you will learn what a difference the use of this empowerment can and will make in your community.

This in turn will give the adolescents in your lives, the ability to make positive choices, and encourage them to strive to achieve boundless victories of their own! Click here to learn more about start dates and times or call (612) 821-2383.

Home Health Parties

Home Health Parties are a fun way for adults and parents to become educated on sexual and reproductive health issues and for them to learn the importance of communicating about these issues their children and other youth in the community. Home Health parties inform and educate the community on the anatomy and physiology of both the male and female. The community is also educated on sexual and reproductive health issues. These parties are conducted by Plain Talk Walkers and Talkers and are hosted by community members. Walkers and talkers will bring small donations of food and materials that are full of resources that the community has to offer.

Home Health parties are a great way for par to become an ""Askable Adult"" and your family to not only get to know more about your health and your bodies, but also a way to learn how to talk about difficult issues that the community is facing today.
